Bikash Bhavan (Library Building)

The history of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira Library dates back to the foundation of the College in 1941. The library was started with about 200 books, mostly obtained through donations from distinguished personalities such as Mr. B. K. Basu, Mr. J. N. Chatterjee, and Mr. V. P. Bhandarkar.

With the steady increase in the number of students, the library also expanded in size and importance. Initially, it was housed in one of the small classrooms of the main building. As the collection continued to grow, the library had to be shifted to a larger hall to accommodate the increasing number of books.

After overcoming many challenges, a separate two-storeyed library building, namely Bikash Bhavan, became operational in 1987. This marked a significant milestone in fulfilling the academic needs of students, teachers, and researchers.

In 2017, RFID-enabled library equipment was introduced to modernize library services. Today, students enjoy open access to the library's rich collection of books, journals, and other learning resources.
