From a humble beginning in 1941 to becoming one of India's premier autonomous colleges, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira has continuously evolved through academic excellence, value-based education and institutional growth.
1960
Three-Year Degree College
With a glorious tradition and brilliant record of success behind it, the Vidyamandira was upgraded into a three-year degree college with effect from July, 1960.
1978
Higher Secondary Section
A higher secondary section (Classes XI & XII) was added in September, 1978.
1994
Vocational Courses
New courses were introduced under the UGC Scheme of Vocationalisation of Degree Education.
2005
NAAC Accreditation
The college was accredited by NAAC with Grade A+ and an institutional score of 93.25%.
2006
Postgraduate Expansion
The Higher Secondary Section was discontinued and postgraduate teaching in Mathematics and Sanskrit was introduced.
2008
M.A. in Bengali
Postgraduate programme in Bengali was introduced.
2010
College with Potential for Excellence
Recognized by the UGC as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE).

Autonomous Status
Granted Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission.

Industrial Chemistry Honours programme replaced the erstwhile Industrial Chemistry Major.

Awarded DST-FIST by the Government of India.
